Abode building consultants carry out many different types of inspecions which are detailed on the Services page. All inspections are carried out by Garry Thomas. Garry has over 37 years experience in the building industry from multi storey commercial building to domestic housing and extensions.

Garry started as an apprentice carpenter for Fricker Brothers in 1969. He was given an accelerated course for trade school studies. The last year of those studies, he started a Building Certificate Course at Marleston Technical College which he completed whilst still working for Fricker Brothers. Garry was made sub-foreman in the last year of his apprenticeship

After successfully completing the Building Certificate Course in 1972, Garry started the Building Technician Course at Marleston Technical College which was successfully completed in 1975

Garry left Fricker Brothers in 1977 to work for Carter Brothers as an operations manager. He left Carter Brothers in 1979 to work as a sub-contract carpenter, carrying out many contracts for a variety of builders and private householders before returning to Fricker Brothers still as a sub-contractor

Garry gained his General Builder’s license in 1982, still contracting to Fricker Brothers, but doing small building additions as well. In 1983, he started working as a full-time builder and carried out a variety of work from domestic to small commercial until January 2005. During this time he also attended many courses held by the HIA and MBA

Garry started Abode Building Consultants in 1995 and ran that in conjunction with his building company until 2005.
